Our Call from God

We are seeing a call to live out love, faith and hope in a world of institutional structures that speak hate, abuse and anger. As the United States of America dares to peal off the bandage of compromise and silence that has kept racism underground but very much alive and growing. The world watches as things unfold and a new era is begun, through a revival of conscience and principles and a willingness to be. Racism has haunted international relations and development dynamics in its various forms, from the rise of nationalism, the reflection of colonialism and imperialistic dispossession a people of identity, name, culture and dignity. These atrocities which once publicly where part of institutional policy are now privately the foundation of national and in part international culture that is used to limit, denigrate and justify the murder of people of colour. The murder of George Floyd is only part of the killing that occurs the destruction of the flesh. The more critical annihilation i

Justice will not be served until those who are unaffected are as outraged as those who are - Benjamin Franklin  The failure of society to feel public outrage at the abuse of another is enabled the increasing rise in violence against the weak and disenfranchised in our society. The most tragic silence is found in the Christian community that during the past decades of attacks against blacks and women has retain its private closest attitude of prayer without action or words. 1 John 3:17 But if anyone has the world's goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God's love abide in him? We see pictures of children and how they at a young age do not act out of bias and stereotyping . We see the evidence that hate is learned and once learned and encouraged is difficult to uproot. Hate is an attitude taught and ingrained by the community they live in. So what leads to the acceptance of hateful acts’ by a community from an individual i

Dispossessed

Romans 13:10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law. In the past few days the world has been witnessing an increase in documented violence the murder of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor and many others is the manifestation of institutional dispossession. The capacity to view the life of any individuals as valueless and their death as minor is not only a crime but a social tragedy. In all the cases highlighted instances of tragedy happened because of ingrained attitudes that approved of dispossession. The individual was label a criminal by their race and location removing their voices and rights before the facts where known, once labeled as unworthy of care and notice any action was validated in the eyes of the perpetrators.   The attitudes that seen on camera in the various cases were of the conquerers towards the unworthy, the powerful towards the weak and the tragic reality is that while repeated outcries follow those with the cap

When we look around the world we see a a lot of people going thru a sense of frustration. Frustrated due to the lack of control over their lives and the actions of other. Many of us feel more at peace when we can guarantee results and plan so as to attain the maximum. While we move about seeking to make sure, we increasingly learn that we are not able to control every aspect of life. For some this moment breaks them and they enter into a downward spiral of panic and fear, for others this motivates them to try harder, while other accept it and move onwards. Some move on awaiting their chance and others give up refusing to hope for goodness to meet them. So while acceptance may appear healthy, it is important to answer why the choice was taken up. When we give up on life, hope and the visions that once pulled us up each morning. We may become very angry at life and someone else, indeed anyone else. The rise of nationalistic feelings in the Covid Era, is a direct response to the frust

There are times in life that are filled with applause and celebration and other times that are full of silence. When I look at what has been going on in the world, I see that the greatest danger in the world is not ignorance but assumptions.  Some may view them as the same thing, but they are not ignorance is far more acceptable than assumptions. When a teacher walks into a class room or a new boss into a an office or a new student into a group. The dangerous group or individuals, most prone to endangering any progress of relationship building and thus progress, as those with assumptions rather than those who are plainly ignorant.  When I am in a relationship, be it with a new friendship or a family member, the danger to our relationship is the actions and words that are spoken based on ones assumptions. Assumptions hold that we are supposed to understand things outside what is presented.  The missed expectations are amplified and become catalyst to disassociation.  I love ignorance fo

The Crime of being Me

The greatest challenge of having made a wrong decision at one point of your life , is the reminder by those around you. Having done wrong in the past and then attempting to correct or rebuke someone else for their act, may become tantamount to declaring war. So what are you supposed to do when you know that wrong acts are being perpetuated, by the former observers of your crime. The most honourable thing would be to speak out and take the backlash when it comes. For indeed the question is not if it will come. It's a hard thing to live through to speak truth as a sinner is hard, to correct those we love is even harder. For those closest to us are also the ones who the most about us. To cry every night in the conflict of seeing the pain to come and refusing the pain that is. Is an experience that many live through in different areas of their lives. Living with the shackles of history around you, Living with the pain of being, and the refusal of others to recognise the process of bec

My teacher - Suffering

Personal Book Study  As I was sharing my testimony with a new friend online, I celebrated the removal of all boarders and limitations in communication, the new openness is not just for education, talking to friends or connections for business. The removal of limitations has meant an increase in structural support and guidance. When one is low or fearful and struggling through a journey the internet is a source of structure and aid from people across the world.     In the book Crawling out of the Darkness, the author reflects on the story of an employee who sought greener pastures but ended up abused at her new place of occupation. The abuse ranged from verbal, physical, psychological and emotional, at the beginning the abuse was with subtlety and then followed with a gradual growth into more viciousness that climaxed into physical abuse and a repeated hint of potential sexual harm. In the narrative she shared the mistakes she made, the errors of indecision, the fear and panic

We all desire rights and laws that protect us, security is a right that is often not possessed.  The constitution of Zimbabw e begins with a preamble; which includes a number of declarations. A segmented outline of the preamble as required to emphasise this write up is as follows: “We the people of Zimbabwe, United in our diversity by our common desire for freedom, justice and equality, and our heroic resistance to colonialism, racism and all forms of domination and oppression …. Recognising the need to entrench democracy, good, transparent and accountable governance and the rule of law … Determined to overcome all challenges and obstacles that impede our progress, Cherishing freedom, equality, peace, justice , tolerance, prosperity and patriotism in search of new frontiers under a common destiny, … Resolve by the tenets of this Constitution to commit ourselves to build a united , just and prosperous nation, founded on values of transparency , equality , freedom , fai

Is it a "Youth" eat Youth World

Transitioning management of companies from old youthful horses to young people across all sectors   The first lesson of getting into management is that no one is irreplaceable, so you have come into a job what is left is your move out. This should not be a bad thing. Movement in companies reflects growth and progress. If there is personal stagnation there is generally loss of potential institutional growth. So why do people fear movement, leaving a job, seeking higher posting or going into new areas.   Zimbabwean institutional challenges may be narrated in historical terms. Skilled specialists in low level areas held a culture of mythical stagnation. In the 1960 tradition, submission and obedience were key words. Things would be done in the old ways. The teacher in handcraft/practical jobs would never teach the student everything for fear of becoming ill relevant. The student would be discouraged to try innovation for innovation means failure and thus death of a career. This t

Doing The Right Thing

The death of  Ahmaud Arbery  is a testament of the evil in individuals. The evil that is celebrated in some communities as self defence. Defence against something undeserving, something, different indeed something that should be relegated to the back of beyond.  The religious community around the world addresses such events with a call to prayer and teach them while young, teach children values and morals, right and wrong. Yet these men who killed another are moral men in the eyes of their community, they are protectors of right and wrong as defined by them. Their bias and xenophobic world view is a communal attitude, making it dangerous to be different.  In the death of Ahmaud Arbery two world collide. In his death philosophies battle. Some view racism as the actions done only by whites, while other declare that racism is common to all-races hence to them all racism is equal, while others like Adam Hochman a lecturer at Macquarie University states that there are no different ra

What is the wonderer doing?

What is the wonderer doing?  The migration story is usually in the news because of the tragic loss of lives that dare to cross the seas or seek a seat by the wheels of planes. As people seek space to travel the world for a better life. The idea that migration is about adults who seek to act out is only part of the story. Migration is also the story of the youth and the child. The migraines child who seeks to make life better and drops out of school, trusting in the future. The teachers who cry at potential lost and hope deferred that had made the heart sick and weak. The suffering of the mother who looks at her child, wondering will she ever the child again.  The migration story is more than economics to some its live and death, progress and total failure, though only economics makes its equitable for management and business of politics and development. Migration is the move people make, as individuals who may be broken and  frustrated seek change. Regardless of the fact that th
